Bar Mitzvah translates literally as "son of the commandment." A boy attains his religious maturity and becomes responsible to fulfill all Torah commandments (mitzvot) at the age of 13.
A girl becomes equally responsible one year earlier, at the age of 12.
This occasion is cause for great celebration and gratitude to G‑d, and hence the Bar or Bat Mitzvah ceremony.
This can be a daunting ordeal or a joyful, memorable and meaningful experience. Chabad Tucson can help to prepare for the transition to Jewish adulthood in a relaxed and friendly way.
We assist in making this time meaningful and inspiring, so your child's Jewish identity will be reinforced and he will be proud of his heritage.
