Over 1100 people packed the Tucson High theater for a historic evening with Mrs. Eva Schloss, Holocaust survivor and memoirist and the stepsister of Anne Frank.
Organized by Chabad Tucson, the evening brought together people from all walks of life and ages. Some have traveled as far as Sedona and Chino City to participate.
The evening was emceed by Chabad Rabbi Yehuda Ceitlin and Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild proclaimed "Eva Schloss Day" in honor of the guest who traveled from England. Alex Bernstein, a chair at Catalina High School Jazz Band, played the song "Ani Maamin."
Rabbi Yossie and Chanie Shemtov, founders and directors of Chabad Tucson - the Jewish outreach and education network, made a moving tribute to her uncles and aunts who perished in the Holocaust.
Interviewing Mrs. Schloss on stage was Dan Marries - KOLD News 13 evening news anchor. It was a moving and fascinating experience for all who attended. Many said the lessons will remain with them for a lifetime.
We thank all the supporters, volunteers and participants who made this evening the Tucson community will long remember.
