"A fiesta for the whole family," is what organizers are calling the upcoming "Purim in Mexico" party which will be held in Tucson on Thursday, March 7, at 4:30 pm.
Guests who will arrive at Congregation Young Israel at 2443 E 4th Street will be greeted by a mariachi band and decor from across the border.
The event, organized by Chabad of Tucson in cooperation with Young Israel, will feature a full Mexican buffet dinner, margarita bar and a masquerade with Mexican attire or costume of choice.
A special program for children will include playing the piñata papier-mâché with kosher goodies and making their own maracas shakers to be used when mentioning the wicked Haman.
Megillah will be read at 5:00 pm and the party begins 5:00 pm. Men, women and children are welcome to celebrate the Jews' salvation from the plot to annihilate them.
