Rabbi Yossie Shemtov delivered a rousing invocation at the Tucson Mayor and Council Meeting, the first since the beginning of the new Jewish Year of 5773.

"Look favorably upon the Mayor, members of the City Council, the City Manager and all those that dedicate their time to this great city of Tucson," Shemtov has asked "G-d in heaven, Master of the Universe."

He was warmly welcomed by the Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and members of the City Council at City Hall on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.

"We are a country founded upon the principles of morality, decency and trust in G-d," said the as Regional Director of Chabad of Tucson and spiritual leader of Congregation Young Israel of Tucson.

He reminded the people gathered --including members of the public-- to "remember that in laboring for the enactment of just laws - they are doing (G-d's) will."

He concluded with the biblical blessing of "He who makes peace on high, may He bring peace upon us and upon all of humanity, let us say Amen."
